Programme Evaluation & Health Data Analysis for Evidence-Based Impact
PROGRAMME EVALUATION | PUBLIC HEALTH | CLINICAL DATA| MIXED METHODS | DIABETES
This project focused on evaluating a community-based diabetes programme using a mixed-methods approach, combining clinical data analysis with qualitative insights to generate evidence-based conclusions on programme effectiveness and impact.
-
Client Situation
Community diabetes programme without a structured evaluation framework to measure effectiveness or guide future decisions
-
What Was Done
Designed and implemented a mixed-methods evaluation combining clinical data and participant insights
-
Outcome
Clear, evidence-based understanding of programme impact, including measurable health improvements and diabetes remission cases
The Challenge
- No structured framework to evaluate programme effectiveness
- Outcomes risked being anecdotal rather than evidence-based
- Limited ability to demonstrate measurable health impact
- Unclear understanding of why the programme worked (or didn’t)
- Difficulty informing decisions on continuation or scaling
Our Approach
1. Define clarity before evaluation
Unstructured measurement leads to unclear conclusions. A framework was designed to link outcomes directly to programme objectives.
2. Combine quantitative and qualitative insight
Clinical indicators were integrated with participant experiences to capture both outcomes and underlying drivers.
3. Treat evaluation as a decision-making tool
Findings were structured to inform programme improvement, continuation, and scalability.
What We Did
- Designed a mixed-methods evaluation framework aligned with programme objectives
- Developed data collection strategy across clinical and experiential outcomes
- Analysed pre- and post-programme health data (including HbA1c and BMI changes)
- Assessed behavioural changes related to diet and lifestyle
- Conducted and analysed focus group discussions to capture participant experiences
- Identified barriers to adherence and motivators for behaviour change
- Synthesised findings into a clear and structured evaluation narrative
- Identified key success drivers and areas for programme improvement
- Produced strategic recommendations for future delivery and scalability
The evaluation provided clear, measurable evidence of programme effectiveness, including improvements in clinical indicators such as HbA1c and BMI, as well as documented cases of diabetes remission. By combining quantitative outcomes with qualitative insights, the project enabled a deeper understanding of behaviour change and supported informed decisions on programme continuation and scaling.

Why This Matters
This project demonstrates how structured evaluation transforms community programmes into credible, decision-ready interventions.
Without a clear framework, impact remains anecdotal and difficult to act on.
By combining clinical outcomes with lived experiences, the work enabled a deeper understanding of what drives success, supporting more effective, scalable health interventions.
